Connex HD Video Transmission Review
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2432743
Conclusion
I am extremely happy with the Connex HD system. It just flat out works and works well. It's a must have for any pro level aerial videographer and at $1600, it's a real bargain. Your clients will really appreciate the higher resolution downlink. It makes you look more professional and allows your camera operator to better adjust the camera settings on the fly as well as be more precise with framing. There are also some great drone specific features of the Connex like the ability to control a camera gimbal through S Bus and the built in OSD that can connect to a MAVLInk-based telemetry flight system.
For the everyday FPV hobby pilot with some extra cash, the connex will make one heck of an FPV system. Couple it with a GoPro and a 450 class quad or nearly any FPV airplane and you'll have an HD video signal you can pipe into a high quality display like the Zeiss Cinemizers, HeadPlay HD's or even an HD TV. It will really open up your world and is totally the future of FPV.
Pros
- No latency 1080P HD Video Downlink
- Plug and Play Easy to Setup
- More range than you need
- S Bus Gimbal control
- Built In OSD
- Large input voltage range
- Price is great for professional use
Cons
- Price is high for non professional use

Cine Gear Expo showcases production, post solutions
http://postperspective.com/tag/cine-gear/

Turning to other booth displays at Cine Gear, Amimon demonstrated the Connex series of 5GHz wireless transmission units that are said to deliver full HD video quality with zero-latency transmission over distances up to 3,300 feet, and targeted at feature films, documentaries, music videos and other production applications that need realtime control of a camera and drone. A built-in OSD provides telemetry information; commands can also be sent via Futaba S-Bus protocol to a drone’s gimbal; the unit supports simultaneous multicasting to four screens.

3DR Pixhawk- powered DJI S1000 and Connex by Amimon HD downlink
http://drone-rss.com/2015/05/3dr-pixhawk-powered-dji-s1000/

For the past several months we have been working closely with an infrastructure inspection firm to develop a multirotor system for them. There were many goals, but COTS parts and cost were major drivers. We decided to use a DJI S1000 frame but selected the 3DR Pixhawk controller. We went with the Pixhawk for a variety of reasons, but flexibility was a primary consideration. The ability to plan complex missions, geotag photos, and a variety of flight modes ultimately sealed the deal. On the gimbal side we ended up using the brand new DJI Ronin-M. Equipped with remotely controlled zoom, the Sony AX100 provides crisp 4K video as well as 20MP still photos (even while rolling video). Mounting the Ronin was no small feat, requiring our dedicated fabricator to spend a few late nights in the shop. On the downlink side, we used a Amimon Connex, sending 1080p footage at 60 FPS. A Futaba 14SG provides flight control as well as camera control.

I must say, the S1000 is an impressive frame. The performance with the Pixhawk running Arducopter 3.2 is staggering, especially when compared to the DJI A2 that would normally occupy this frame. Youtube videos coming shortly!

Encouraging Signs for Commercial UAVs
http://gpsworld.com/encouraging-signs-for-commercial-uavs/
The AUVSI show in Atlanta, held May 4-7, drew significantly more attention from TV media this year, as several of the major networks provided live coverage from the show floor. NBC’s Today morning show opened with a live shot of a drone hovering in front of an opening house door, as if patiently waiting to deliver a package from Google or Amazon — the potential good side of drones for consumers.
Then their coverage recalled the DJI drone crashing onto the White House front lawn in the early morning hours (perhaps an unfortunate loss of user control, but an odd time and place to be out flying a drone), and airline pilot reports of lighted drones appearing above nighttime final approach paths — the bad side of drones in common usage.
Then Brian Wynne, president and CEO of AUVSI, provided a positive insight on the latest forecasts of UAV’s contributing $82 billion to the U.S. economy. Wynne’s estimates included the generation of more than 100,000 new high-paying technical jobs within 10 years’ time. But in an effort to urge faster progress towards regulations, Wynne also suggested that for every day of delay in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rulemaking to allow open use of drones, the U.S. loses $27 million daily in economic impact.
There was similar encouraging coverage by Fox News from the Atlanta Convention Center show floor, followed by Brian Wynne again pitching for rapid introduction of commercial drone use in the U.S. Fox chose to broadcast from the Robotics in Action drone flying area, and to feature real-time, zero latency HC video transmitted via Amimon’s Connex wireless system. A good demo over live TV, and Amimon’s chance to tell the world about its wireless transmission system that can transmit HD video over up to half-a-mile away with zero latency — good news, incidentally, for Fox, NBC, CNN and other news gatherers.

Last Unmanned Systems show roundup - John McHale
http://mil-embedded.com/3796-last-unmanned-systems-show-roundup/#
Exhibitors at the event ranged from all types of industries, including Hollywood. One that stood out was Amimon from San Jose, Calif., and their product Connex, which delivers wireless HD not through WiFi, but via a video-modem technology developed from the ground up through algorithms, chips, firmware, RF etc., and therefore can deliver full HD zero latency over long range, says David Shefler, Vice President, Global Sales and Business Development at Amimon. It enables command and control of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their payload gimbals with zero latency. However, this was not developed for military platforms, it originated as a way to control cameras wirelessly in film production.

Their demo system from the event is pictured above. Its transmitter is connected with an HDMI cable, is battery powered, and enables telemetry data to be transmitted over their wireless link directly to a controller's screen. It has a range of as far as one kilometer. "The solution is a game changer because it has zero latency and essentially comes in a box and can be assembled in less than five minutes, which saves money on training and maintenance," Shefler says. "We call it plug and fly." For more on Amimon and Connex, visit www.amimon.com.

"Drones dominated the show, with powerhouse DJI setting up in the central hall and an entire section of the rear south hall devoted to a drone “fly-off” competition. Nearby, a pavilion featured nothing but drones, cameras, accessories, and even wireless camera links such as Amimon’s Connex 5 GHz system. (You may recognize this as a variant of the company’s WHDI wireless HDMI product.)"
